This is an oft-repeated scene, except Chris is currently on Christmas break from work so it’s his hand steadying the bottle instead of mine.

Wake up time
Louisette likes to run in to TJ when he first wakes in the morning (if she’s already up) – which actually is great, because it keeps both of them happy.
Look Mum! No hands!
Suddenly, TJ can sit up unsupported. This is the greatest step towards independence he’s ever taken.
Boxing Day Bliss
Christmas Day
Today was Christmas with Nana and Poppy. I was delighted by TJ’s reaction to the sprinkler play mat. It turns out there ARE a few things in life even more exciting than chewing on wrapping paper.
One small step for mankind, one giant leap for TJ
For the first time, TJ is JUST strong enough to hold himself up on hands and knees. I’m so looking forward to him crawling, so he can find his own fun rather than requiring me to constantly fetch things as he uncontrollably throws favourite toys across the room (due to lack of control, not deliberateContinue reading “One small step for mankind, one giant leap for TJ”
Lazy Mum Day
Today I went, “Have I taken a photo today? Nope. Where’s the kid? Oh, there he is.” And here you are. And here areĀ a couple of permutations of the kids’ Activity Wall (you load balls into it. They go down. Or possibly up, thanks to the lever on the left). Notice the fading light. (NowContinue reading “Lazy Mum Day”
The joy of getting away with it (or WILL WE?)
Here is a trellis. We happily showed it to both kids, and they didn’t suspect a thing š It’s the backing for a giant Christmas present, and luckily even Louisette doesn’t have the maturity to wonder WHY mum and dad are building a super-strong trellis two days before Christmas. (TJ of course has the sameContinue reading “The joy of getting away with it (or WILL WE?)”

An un-handy skill
We often hear a thump-click, thump-click around the house as Louisette walks by with one of her dummies clenched tight between her toes for safekeeping. Today, in addition to continuing to show greater sitting-up steadiness (oh how I look forward to the day when he can pick up his own toys!), TJ picked up hisContinue reading “An un-handy skill”
Reaching for the camera
Pretty sure he reckons it’s another family member.

Water Table
This was a gift for both kids. I thought really carefully about Christmas, and used it to help wean Louisette of certain baby things (givingĀ them to her younger cousin) that I want OUT OF MY HOUSE now TJ is getting too big to need them (eg we had three cot toys) – and to prepareContinue reading “Water Table”
First Christmas
Today’s was TJ’s first Christmas twice over – it is his first Christmas, since he’s less than a year old, and it’s his first Christmas of three family Christmases (my side, Chris’ side, and one just for the four of us). But this one was the big one. . . the one with all theContinue reading “First Christmas”

The tiniest protestor
My mother and sister were both arrested today. Last week a new Migration Bill was passed granting extraordinary powers (including a great deal of secrecy) to the Immigration Minister. The following day, the government used its new power to begin the procedure of deporting 25 asylum seeker babies that were born here in Australia. EightContinue reading “The tiniest protestor”
